Geneva, June 12. The 10th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO

Muzaffar Razakov, CEO of Global Textile, spoke on behalf of the private sector and the textile industry.

He presented the business's view of the country's accession to the WTO as the next logical stage of reforms.

The economic transformations in Uzbekistan have given a strong impetus: liberalization, deregulation, and new incentives. Against this backdrop, it was the textile industry - completely private - that first felt the changes. Today, effective chains have been built in it: from cotton to finished products.

Exports go to dozens of countries. Competition is possible thanks to modern approaches, implemented standards (GSP+, BCI, OEKO-TEX) and emphasis on sustainability, traceability, and quality.

But further movement requires systemic conditions: predictable rules, agreed norms, and institutional guarantees. WTO membership is capable of ensuring this.
