Global Textile Takes Part in Strategic Dialogue on the Future of the Cotton and Textile Industry
On 21 August, Global Textile took part in the second meeting of the National Advisory Council supporting the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) programme in Uzbekistan. The meeting included a strategic session titled “Shaping the Future of BCI Together.”
The discussions focused on the BCI development strategy in Uzbekistan through 2030, the needs of producers and the market, current challenges, and future areas of work.
For international buyers, the origin of cotton, supply chain transparency, and compliance with international requirements are becoming increasingly important. These factors directly influence trust in producers and their ability to work with Physical BCI Cotton.
These issues are also becoming increasingly important for the international textile market. Customers need to understand where the cotton comes from and have visibility into a transparent supply chain all the way to the finished product. This approach is particularly important for a vertically integrated company where all stages are connected. At Global Textile, Better Cotton Initiative Chain of Custody (CoC) requirements are already applied throughout the production chain.
For us, participation in the National Advisory Council is an opportunity to contribute to discussions on the development of the industry based on our practical experience and to be part of the dialogue on what Uzbekistan's cotton and textile industry should look like by 2030.
The more transparent and traceable the journey from cotton to finished product becomes, the more confidently Uzbek manufacturers can work with international partners and enter new markets.
