Visit of US Embassy Representatives to Global Textile in Fergana

In 1914, the Lummus Cotton Gin Company introduced the world’s first integrated cotton ginning system. It was a breakthrough that transformed the industry and helped the United States become a leader in cotton production.
More than a century later, Uzbekistan is shaping its own chapter in this story. Through modern clusters, the country is building a textile industry that meets international standards and delivers finished products ready for the global market.
During his recent visit to Global Textile facilities in Fergana, Mr. Daniel Rakove, Chief, Economic and Commercial Unit of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, was introduced to how these clusters operate — from cotton to finished garments. He noted the high level of organization and left with a strong impression of the progress made.
Uzbekistan is moving beyond raw cotton exports, focusing instead on innovation, added value, and openness to international cooperation. A new role on the global textile map is being written here.
