From Tradition to Sustainability: German Partnership and a New Development Vector for Global Textile

25/09/2024

Today, we had the honor of hosting a delegation from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) at Global Textile in Tashkent, led by Dr. Carolina Probst, a representative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), from the Department for East and Central Asia. During the visit, GIZ representatives presented their work in Uzbekistan, showcasing important projects focused on sustainable supply chains, corporate responsibility, and their contributions to the Sustainable Cotton Project.

The meeting emphasized our ongoing collaboration with the German government and BMZ to advance sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in Uzbekistan’s cotton and textile industries. We were proud to highlight our progress and reaffirm our commitment to implementing sustainable practices across the entire production chain — from cotton cultivation to finished garments.

Our discussions also underscored the essential support from our German partners, which has enabled us to embrace innovative solutions in resource conservation, reduce our environmental footprint, and improve working conditions, driving the continued growth of sustainable textile production in Uzbekistan.
