How Global Textile Tests Knitted Fabric Quality Before Delivery

Two knitted fabrics may look identical but perform very differently after several washes. One retains its shape and color, while the other may shrink, fade or develop pilling. Such differences are often impossible to identify through visual inspection alone.

At Global Textile, laboratory testing is an essential part of the knitted fabric quality control process before shipment to customers.

What tests do our knitted fabrics undergo?

Dimensional stability testing determines how much a fabric may shrink or stretch after washing and drying. Samples are washed, dried and measured again to assess changes in their dimensions. These results are particularly important for subsequent cutting and garment manufacturing.

Color fastness testing covers several aspects of fabric performance. Our laboratory evaluates color retention after washing, dye transfer during dry and wet rubbing, and the effect of perspiration on the fabric's color.

Pilling resistance is another important characteristic. Fabric samples undergo controlled mechanical action using specialized testing equipment. The surface is then examined for the formation of pills and changes in appearance. Different testing methods are used at Global Textile to assess this property.

Fabric strength is also evaluated through bursting strength testing. Specialized equipment applies increasing pressure to a fabric sample to determine the pressure at which it bursts and its degree of extension.

Our laboratory also measures the pH of an aqueous extract from the fabric. This helps assess its acidity or alkalinity following dyeing and finishing processes.

In addition to laboratory testing, knitted fabrics undergo visual inspection. Using specialized illuminated inspection equipment, our specialists examine the fabric surface to identify potential knitting, dyeing and finishing defects.

Why does fabric testing matter to customers?

Each test follows a defined procedure, and the results are evaluated against specified requirements.

For Global Textile customers, this provides valuable information about fabric properties before production begins. It supports informed material selection, production planning and the reduction of quality-related risks in finished products.

Global Textile is a vertically integrated knitted fabric manufacturer in Uzbekistan, with production capabilities extending from cotton cultivation and yarn manufacturing to knitting, dyeing and finishing. Laboratory testing supports consistent fabric characteristics at the final stages of production.
