Visit of the BCI representative

Today, Global Textile was visited by a representative of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) from Turkey.
The visit was dedicated to learning how the Better Cotton standard is being implemented in Uzbekistan. Of particular interest was the opportunity to see the traceable cotton system in practice.

The cluster approach implemented in Uzbekistan creates unique conditions: the entire chain, from cotton growing to finished product manufacturing, is concentrated within one region, in a radius of 80–100 km. This ensures transparency of processes and makes it possible to guarantee that the principles of decent work and sustainable production are respected at every stage.

For international brands, such mechanisms are of special importance. Every year, more and more companies focus on using cotton produced under the BCI standard and demand clear proof of its origin. Thanks to the cluster system, Uzbekistan is able to offer exactly such transparency and reliability.

Such visits are important not only for Global Textile but also for the entire industry. We demonstrate that Uzbekistan is becoming part of the global system of sustainable textile production and deserves the trust of leading international partners.
