Why are trees painted in winter?

Because this is the time when whitewashing gives the tree the greatest protection. In winter, the sun warms the bark during the day, but nighttime temperatures drop sharply, causing it to crack and putting the tree under stress for the entire season. The white coating reflects sunlight and protects the trunk from these temperature swings. It also prevents pests from overwintering in the bark and reduces the risk of fungal diseases — something especially important for young trees.

As part of the “Dala madaniyati” project, the Global Textile team is carrying out winter whitewashing of trees on the grounds of our enterprises and in surrounding areas. This work reflects our culture of caring for the environment in which we live and operate and continues our commitment to sustainable practices.

Seasonal whitewashing helps trees withstand winter temperature changes and maintain their health for the coming season. For Global Textile, it is essential that the areas around our facilities remain vibrant, well-kept, and resilient — and initiatives like this contribute directly to that goal.
