World Cotton Day: Half a Million Fibres in a Single Boll

Half a million.

That is approximately how many individual fibres can be found in a single cotton boll.
What looks like a simple white cluster is, in fact, a highly complex natural structure that people have learned to transform into yarn, fabric and products that surround us every day.

A single small cotton boll brings together nature, science, agriculture and a vast industry. Perhaps that alone is reason enough for cotton to have its own day on the calendar.

October 7 — World Cotton Day.

Global Textile team conveys congratulations to everyone who grows cotton, works with it, studies it and transforms it into products that become part of our everyday lives.
