Today, October 14, is World Standards Day. We would like to share an observation that recently caught our attention.
While registering Global Textile on an international sourcing platform, we noticed an interesting detail. Listing our existing certifications in the relevant section was not enough. The system required the number of each certificate, its expiry date and a copy of the document as supporting evidence.
It may seem like a routine registration procedure. However, it illustrates how seriously international buyers approach supplier verification. They need to ensure that the certificates presented are valid and demonstrate compliance with specific requirements.
Certification and independent audits help assess how a manufacturer meets requirements related to product safety, raw material origin, working conditions and environmental aspects of production. For buyers, this provides a basis for making sourcing decisions using verifiable information.
Why do standards matter to manufacturers themselves?
They establish clear operating requirements, encourage process control and help identify areas for improvement. Independent assessments also offer a fresh perspective on practices that may gradually become routine within a company.
Global Textile continues to develop its work in this area. We hold international certifications including GOTS, OEKO-TEX® and Better Cotton Chain of Custody, while our production facilities undergo amfori BSCI social audits.
We support international standardization because we see its practical value for both our operations and our customers.
That is the value of international standards: clear requirements, verifiable processes and transparent relationships between manufacturers and buyers.
